Okay, get ready. This is the summer between middle and high school for my teenager, and I've decided that this is my time to spend with him. Yes, I'll still be working. Yes, I'll keep my commitments. But expect a minimum of postings. :-) My priority will be living the moments, not posting them. Then, later, when the hot summer days begin to fade into fall, I'm sure my reflections will creep into this blog. How could they not? But this Multi-Tasking Mom is going to make her actions match her words. My family is my #1 priority and during these all-too-brief summer months, that's where my focus will be.
I talked with a (much) younger friend of mine who left the corporate world earlier this year. Excitement creeps into her voice as she shares that, for the first time, she has NOT booked her kids into camp every day, because she doesn't have to. She has no 8:00 am office arrival deadline to meet. She now works for herself. She's taking the summer to focus on her family because she CAN.
We know we are lucky. Very lucky. But as you move through these sunny, summer days, I hope you can take a minute, stop, and see how you can make your summer reflect your priorities, whatever they may be for you. Whether taking an extra day off just to catch some rays, leaving a few minutes early so you don't have to rush. Or stopping off for a cool cone of yummy ice cream. I hope you can let the ease of summer make its way into your busy, multi-tasking days.
Well, got to run, summer's calling ... and I hope your own summer days are filled with family, friends, and fun!
