The real question is...

As I hit Day 3 of my giving away effort, it strikes me that some things - like the chipped plate that will never be repaired and the really cool but never used eyeglass holder that showed up with new sunglasses - are obvious giveaways, recycles, trash.

It's the others that are harder. You know. The pink silk blouse that I bought, perfect for a spring suit three years back, but never wore because you could see everything - and I do mean everything - underneath, even WITH a camisole. The tag's still on it. Brand spanking new, as my mom used to say. But then I realized what the REAL question in all this giving away is:

Does this (whatever) serve me?

It may sound crazy, but it makes sense the more you think about it.
The pink blouse takes up valuable space in my closet, just hanging there. It's a reminder, every time I get dressed, of a bad choice. (Can't you hear it mocking me?)
And believe me, after 3 years, it's never going to become a valued part of my wardrobe other than just a hanger on. LOL

Clearly, it does NOT serve me. Soooo.... feeling courageous, I gently take it down, on the hanger, and release it into the world (well, at least to Goodwill) knowing that for some other gal, it may be the PERFECT pink blouse she's needing right now.

That makes me feel good. And, it opens up space in my closet, and life, for whatever needs to be there that will serve me better!
