Okay, some days are just too beautiful to stay inside, and today was one of them. I dropped H off at his all day play rehearsal, hit the track for a few laps, and then headed home. With a full (teen free) day in front of me, what could I do?
Recycle. Recycle. RECYCLE! In the yard, I picked up pine cones to get them out of the way of the mower. I pulled weeds. I swept pollen. I dead headed faded blooms. I trimmed and cut, and tossed into the compost bin.
And then it struck me.
All my cleaning out, giving away, and tossing these last few days are just reflecting what happens every Spring outside, compliments of Mother Nature. She doesn't sit around regretting the loss of the daffodil blossoms that are now past their prime; she's ready to move on to the next thing. Make room for the azaleas and the dogwoods.
The new green shoots push up past the old dead grass. The new leaves push off the old. And the circle of life continues.
It makes me realize that what's started as a 9 day exercise is really a constant way of life. Letting go, making room, celebrating the new, turning loose when it no longer serves. Big stuff.
