Today I needed my mother. It was one of those days when everything just seemed to be a little too much and I needed a mom. But my mom's not here. Not in the flesh. She's been on the heavenly plane since 1987 when we lost her to ovarian cancer. But a good friend reminded me of something I'd shared with her about mothers...a quote from an amazing book called "The Secret Life of Bees" by Sue Monk Kidd.
I read it. I read it again. And I drew strength. I share it with you now, hoping you may see yourself and findthe sustenance you need today, tomorrow and as we go through this season of new light and life.
“ You have to find a mother inside yourself. We all do. Even if we already have a mother, we still have to find this part of ourselves inside…
You don’t have to put your hand on Mary’s heart to get strength and consolation and rescue, and all the other things we need to get through life. You can place it right here on your own heart. Your own heart.
When you’re unsure of yourself, when you start pulling back into doubt and small living, she’s the one inside saying ‘Get up from there and live like the glorious girl you are.’ She’s the power inside you, you uderstand?
This Mary I’m talking about sits in your heart all day long saying, ‘You are my everlasting home. Don’t’ you ever be afraid. I am enough. We are enough.’ “

Dream come true!

Have you ever had a dream come true? For me, this week, one did! Since I was a little girl, I've dreamed of having my very own baby grand piano... a shiny black lacquer one with rich ivory keys and wonderful notes filling my life with music.
Well, girls, this week my prayers were answered in the form of Craig's List and a wonderful guy named Jim who had to give up his beloved baby due to an out of state move and a smaller home. We exchanged emails, talked on the phone and the VERY DAY the movers were coming to put his piano in storage... VOILA! It found its new home with me!!!
We met at 8:30 in the morning and it was love at first site... me with the piano, of course, although I admit to having some pretty thankful feelings to Jim, too. It was Christmas coming early on December 1st and Jim was Santa! We changed the delivery location from the warehouse to my house and by 5 o'clock that afternoon, the piano was playing "Misty" for me.
You never know when your dreams will come true, but for me it happened when I took action. I said it out loud. I looked on the web. I sent an email. And the Universe answered in a BIG Baby Grand wonderful kind of way!
Let the music begin!
